As with any expedition, you need to bring (at the very least): equipment, supplies, food, and a first aid kit.

Luckily, since you are assuming Gil's tent and supplies, most of these items are taken care of. However, use the checklist below to make certain you are prepared to undertake this journey.

Equipment

Macintosh users will need, as a minimum:

  • 80 MHz PowerPC (G3 Recommended)
  • System 7.5 or greater (8.6 + optimal)
  • 32 Mb RAM (64 MB Recommended)
  • 640 x 480 monitor with Thousands of Colors
  • 8x Speed CD-ROM drive or a DVD-ROM drive
  • External speakers optimal or Headphones

Windows users will need, as a minimum:

  • 166 MHz Pentium (PII 300 MHz Recommended)
  • Windows OS 95/98/ME
  • 32 Mb RAM (64 MB Recommended)
  • SVGA monitor (640 x480 with thousands of colors)
  • 8x Speed CD-ROM drive of DVD-ROM drive
  • 16-bit Sound Blaster sound card (or compatible)
  • External speakers and mouse

The more RAM you have, the better. The faster the CPU & CD-ROM drive, the better. That said, Riddle of the Sphinx™ will still be enjoyable on slower machines.

Supplies

Unless you have a photographic memory, you probably want a pad of paper to jot notes and sketches. Plus:
  • Comfortable chair (Recliner optimal)
  • Low-light setting for mood.
  • Mate, friend or other with which to enjoy adventure
  • Damp cloth to wipe off excess tomb dust
  • Change of clothes (in case you dive into a cavern well)

(Oh, and don't forget a clean change of underwear... ya know, Mom and all.)

Food & Beverages

Yes, you have Gil's food reserves, and that may do. But it's always safe to include:
  • Favorite Beverage (and lots of it, too... ever been deep in the bowels of a 4,500 year old pyramid without any ventilation? In the middle of the desert?)
  • Protein bar and fruit (fresh if possible). No, not for you! To feed the snakes and crocs...
  • Bread crumbs (sophisticated navigation device)
  • Nachos!

First Aid Kit

Lastly, the medical supplies. Given the nature of pyramid design (booby traps and such), you mustn't forget these items:

  • Band-Aids
  • Gauze, tape, and disinfectant (or, if your beverage choice has a proof higher than the average life expectancy, use that.)
  • Splint, hacksaw, fishing line and beer tab. (Don't ask... it's better you don't know.)
  • Trauma team of the best and brightest within ten feet of you at all times. (Again, ignorance is bliss.)

If you have the above items, you still might die. But at least they can't say you weren't prepared.
